Russian hard discounter Mere is finalizing the details to open its first two stores in Spain, where it plans to expand.
According to Inforetail, the Mere supermarket chain will open its first Spanish points of sale in Parla, on Avenida de Ronda, number 12G, and in Aldaia, at number 40 on Calle Solidaridad. The chain, which belongs to the Russian commerce group Torgservis under its Svetofor brand, will open its third store third in Spain in L'Alqueria de la Comtessa, just 90 kilometers away from Aldaia. The store will be located on Avenida del Pais Valenciano, number 38.
These three supermarkets will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The store in Madrid store will open every day of the week, while the two Valencian branches will only open from Monday to Saturday.
These are just the first three Mere projects that will see the light of day in Spain. The Russian chain will also open a store in the Dynamia de Petrer shopping center in Alicante next June. They also have numerous projects in other areas of the country, such as Castilla and Leon, La Rioja, Murcia, and Andalusia.
Each store will have a maximum of 1,200 references and only eight employees, including a manager, four cashiers, and three workers to handle deliveries. Suppliers will deliver directly to stores, which will also act as warehouses for the company.
Each store will be approximately 950 m² big and will include a cooling room and a large freezer, allowing them to sell multi-temperature products directly from the pallets on which they arrive.
Arrival in the UK
Mere is not only opening stores in Spain. According to The Grocer, the Russian chain is also making headlines in the United Kingdom for its upcoming arrival in the country. The company will launch two supermarkets in the north of England and another two in Wales over the next few weeks.
