Asia positioned itself as the main destination

Chilean fresh fruit exports increase by 7.14%

Chile has exported 979,180 tons of fresh fruits in the current export season (from September 1, 2020, to February 15, 2021), i.e. 7.14 % more than in the same period of the previous season, according to information from the Association of Fruit, of Chile AG (ASOEX).

The main destination is Asia, with 432,474 tons and a remarkable 31.29% increase. It is followed by the United States with 257,104 tons and an 18.46% decrease.

Latin America ranked third with 137,559 tons and a 12.77% increase. It is followed by Europe, with 133,987 tons, and an 18.04% decrease over the previous season.

Canada received 15,046 tons of fresh Chilean fruits to date, with a decrease of 6.88%, and the Middle East has received 3,010 tons, i.e. -3.33%.

Cherries have been the most exported Chilean fruit, accounting for 36% of shipments. They were followed by table grapes (12.4%), blueberries (11.1%), apples (7.8 %), and avocados (7.1%).

The ranking of the most exported fruits according to their share in total shipments is completed by mandarins (6.4%), nectarines (6%), plums (4.8%), and pears (2.2%).

The top 5 fruits exported by Chile are cherries, blueberries, table grapes, apples, and avocados.
