Import volume of Taiwanese fruits ranking top in mainland China for 13th year

In 2020, Xiamen imported 49,400 tons of Taiwanese fruits, becoming the 13th consecutive year where Taiwan's fruit imports ranked first on the mainland, said the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce on January 21. At a press conference held that day, Lin Zhenya, deputy director of the department, said trade with Taiwan was a highlight of Xiamen's foreign trade operations in 2020.

During the year, the logistics channel for express services between Xiamen and Taiwan was smoother. A total of 1.826 million pieces of items were shipped with a total value of 580 million yuan, seeing an increase of 43% and 55% respectively. The sea-air combined transportation model, where goods are collected and distributed at the Xiamen port and flown via Taiwan Taoyuan Airport has become a norm. Items shipped in this model amounted to 1322.6 tons, with a total value of 110 million yuan.

Lin Zhenya added that in 2020, the cooperation between Xiamen and Kinmen became closer. The direct trade between the two areas facilitated 12,000 tons of exports and 74,000 tons of imports. The construction of “overseas warehouses” in Kinmen has further accelerated, completing a total of 98 container transit shipping express services last year. Kinmen is gradually becoming a transit center for cargo between Xiamen and Taiwan.
