In the first half of 2020, Ukraine imported fruits and berries worth US$341 million. This is 23% more than in the same period last year, said experts from the National Scientific Center's Institute of Agrarian Economy (IAE).
The lion’s share in imports of fruits and berries in January-June 2020 was made up of on citrus fruits, bananas and other exotic fruits. In particular, Ukraine imported 182,000 tonnes of citrus fruits worth US$129 million and 174,000 tonnes of bananas worth US$96 million.
The majority of imports in the first half of 2020 came from Turkey (19.9% of the total fruit supplies to Ukraine), Ecuador (17.1%), Egypt (10.0%), Costa Rica (6.9%), Spain (5.3%), Greece (4.0%) and Colombia (3.3%).
