After Switzerland, Bangladesh has now exported mangoes to Milan, Italy, while other consignments are going to the UK and Austria this week, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M. Shahriar Alam confirmed in a Facebook post.
On July 14, the export of first package of Bangladeshi mangoes reached Switzerland. The "Amropali" variety is now being sold at supermarkets there. It has been possible thanks to an initiative taken by Bangladesh Permanent Mission in Geneva.
In the last few years, the demand for mangoes in Switzerland has increased, according to a study conducted by Bangladesh mission, said the post. Switzerland might be a promising destination of Bangladeshi mangoes if trade relations are maintained with ensuring export quality of the agro products.
