The recent six-month average price of Brazilian orange juice dropped by 4% compared to the previous six-month average (Mar-Aug 2019), driven by higher production and end stocks in 2018/19.
Brazil’s 2019/20 orange juice production is estimated at 992,000 tonnes, a 25% decline y-o-y after poor growing conditions reduced the country’s orange output.
Furthermore, the average price of US orange juice dropped by 6% over the recent six months (Sep 19-Feb 20) compared to the previous six months, due to increased production in Florida in 2018/19. The major share of Florida’s orange production goes for processing.
The US is estimated to produce 330,000 tonnes of orange juice in 2019/20, a small increase on last year as growers enjoy favourable weather conditions.
