Syngenta :

Presentation of new varieties at Melon, Watermelon and Courgette Open Day

On July 9, 2019, Syngenta held an open day at its Sarrians (Vaucluse) site to present new products in its melon, courgette and watermelon ranges.

Throughout the day, the Syngenta and BFP Prosem sales teams welcomed technicians, distributors, specifiers, nurseries and producers, mainly from the south-eastern region of France. A day of exchange and sharing around the varieties presented in the field.

Two new products in the melon range
Two new varieties of melons (in the pre-commercialization phase) particularly caught the visitors' attention:

- MC20018, designed for production in cold tunnels and early tarpaulins. Its capacity for yield, its clear-cut look and its good fruit retention clearly seduced. This variety with the VAT gene also has a good resistance to fusarium head blight.

- MC19839 : excellent taste, an attractive look and a wide planting range make this variety a "4x4" in the largest segment of Charente melon. Another new feature that also provides safety thanks to the Vat gene and its good fusarium 1.2 behaviour

The field observation of the melon range was followed by an on-site fruit tasting, where the aromatic qualities of the Syngenta melon range were recognised.

The watermelon range, known for its taste and yield
Syngenta also presented its watermelon varieties, with a focus on the seedless mini, particularly known for its taste and yield in a fast-growing market. Dorin and Bibo once again seduced visitors and confirmed their first place in the field of taste and fruit set excellence.

The courgette range: two new products and organic varieties
All the varieties in the field courgette range were on display, a range widely recognised for its resistance to viruses and its high level of productivity, which is now being expanded with two new products: Zefiros, a new product in short harvesting cycles and
CV8166 (for test) for long harvesting cycles.

Syngenta also presented its offer of certified organic courgette varieties: the Syros and Milos reference varieties.

"Syngenta's mission is to respond to all types of agriculture by providing the solution that best meets the needs of producers. That is why we are pleased today to expand our offer with two of our flagship varieties available in certified seeds for organic farming. Our range will be gradually expanded to meet the challenges posed by this production method, which imposes very specific constraints," said Loïc Maffeïs, cucurbit product manager.
