The fruit exported from Thailand to China in the first 4 months of this year was worth 668 million USD, which is a growth of 152.7% in comparison with the same period last year. A spokesperson for the Thai Ministry of Commerce stated that the number of Chinese tourists in Thailand grows every year. Not only does Thailand benefit from this growth in tourism, but Chinese tourists become more familiar with Thai fruit, which in turn encourages export of fruit from Thailand to China. Chinese tourists particularly enjoy durian, mangosteen, and longan. China is already the most important export market for Thai durian and mangosteen.
The export of durian from Thailand to China in the first 4 months of this year reached a value of 418 million USD. In 2018, data shows, the overall export volume of fruit from Thailand to China reached a value of 2.021 billion USD.
