Switzerland: Turnover of Fair Trade products at record level

Last year, sales of Fair Trade products in Switzerland again increased. With a growth of 11 percent, Fair Trade sales rose to 768.4 million Swiss francs in 2017, according to a report from "Swiss Fair Trade".

In particular, the classic Fair Trade product range - chocolate or cocoa products - recorded a considerable growth of 71 percent compared to the previous year. Overall, the category of fresh fruits (bananas, pineapples, etc.) accounts for the largest share of sales, at 23 percent.

In 2017, Swiss citizens spent 91 francs per person on Fair Trade products. This makes Switzerland, still, the world champion in the per capita consumption of Fair Trade products.
