France imported 900,000 tons of exotic fruit

Last year 900,000 tons of exotic fruit was imported into France. Anna Mia is from Martinique and is an exotic fruit specialist. She says, “a mango must never be too green. As soon as it becomes yellow, it is delicious”.

The price of exotic fruit is fixed depending on imports. Some fruits such as lychees, pineapples and mangoes are handpicked. Exotic fruits are imported from all over the world; passion fruits from Colombia, pineapple from the Ivory Coast, dragon fruit from Vietnam…. Over 10,000 tons of exotic fruit transits through Rungis each year, not including the sector’s most important product, bananas.
