Ettore Cagna in front of polytunnels in Tunisia.
The weather affected ripening, so much so that the Sicilian produce is twenty days early and plants have developed a lot also in Emilia-Romagna. "We started transplants in Emilia-Romanga and we should receive the first loads from Sicily on the 25th (photo below). In addition, we will also be selling Chanterais melons, which are going to be very popular thanks to their organoleptic properties."
This year, the Sicilian season will overlap with melons from Tunisia. Tunisian melons are perfect to satisfy demand, which is increasing thanks to the high quality of the produce.
Cagna also adds that "as usual, we will also be selling our mini-watermelons from Sicily. We are more than willing to continue investing so as to grow both in Italy and abroad." That is probably why Ettore Cagna recently joined Fruitimprese, the Italian import-export association for produce.
