Tajikistan’s potato output exceeds 1.2M tons for 10 months of 2025

Tajikistan has harvested more than 1.2 million tons of potatoes in the first ten months of 2025, outperforming last year's result by 69,000 tons, according to official data. The crop was grown on 64,300 hectares.

Potatoes remain a key staple in Tajik households, and in recent years the government has prioritised improvements in seed quality and agronomic practices. As a result, yields for several varieties now reach 30–70 tonnes per hectare, a notable increase for the region.

Farmers cultivate both domestic varieties, including Tajikistan, Faizobod, Zarrina, Shukrona, and Nurinisso, and widely recognised international ones such as Evolution, Arizona, Picasso, Aladdin, Cardinal, Gala, Red Scarlett, and Manitou. The combination of improved seed stock and modernised cultivation methods is cited by specialists as a major factor behind rising productivity.

To showcase this year's results and facilitate market access, producers brought around 200 tons of potatoes to a dedicated marketplace in Dushanbe. The accompanying forum and exhibition highlighted cooperation between farmers and researchers.
