Trops, the Andalusian cooperative with 4,000 growers that produces over 55% of Spain's mango supply and 45% of the peninsula's avocado market, has formalized its acquisition of Frutos Subtropicales Micoma, Aguacates Mijas S. Coop. And. The transaction, approved by the general assemblies of both organizations, was carried out through a merger by absorption.
The merger adds 55 growers and approximately 70 hectares of avocado farmland to Trops, strengthening its leading position in the production and distribution of this fruit in Spain.
Micoma's facilities in Mijas Costa (Malaga), covering 2,559 square meters, will stay operational. They will become part of the Trops network as a harvesting and member service center to improve local services for growers in the region.
The merger is part of a joint strategy to consolidate, professionalize, and increase the sector's competitiveness. The agreement was signed by the presidents of both organizations: José Linares, representing Trops, and José Francisco Valenzuela, representing Micoma.
With over 45 years of experience, Trops is expanding and remains dedicated to a cooperative model centered on fair marketing, technological innovation, and sustainability. This effort is supported by a network of operational centers across Andalusia, the Valencian Community, and the Portuguese Algarve.
