UK apple and berry markets show contrasting price movements this week, according to Defra's latest wholesale data. Among leading apple varieties, Bramley's Seedling rose 10% to £1.37 per kilogram, up from £1.25 the previous week. Egremont Russet also increased by 13% to £1.35 per kilogram, while Cox's Orange group slipped 3% to £1.15 per kilogram. Braeburn prices edged down slightly to £1.30, while Gala saw the sharpest fall among major varieties, dropping 13% to £1.07 per kilogram.
Pear prices continued to ease, with Conference pears averaging £1.08 per kilogram, down 3% week-on-week. Doyenne du Comice followed the same trend, falling 8% to £1.07 per kilogram. The declines reflect a balanced market following steady volumes from domestic production and imports.
Among berries, blackberries averaged £15.20 per kilogram, up 4% from £14.67 the previous week. Raspberries, however, fell 6% to £11.46 per kilogram, while strawberries recorded a 40% rise to £6.14 per kilogram. Blueberry prices were reported at £12.18 per kilogram, though unchanged from last week due to limited updates.
Plum prices remained stable, with Victoria and mixed varieties averaging £1.80 per kilogram. Limited seasonal availability has kept trade volumes modest as the UK transitions into late-autumn supply patterns.
