Cocaine seized in Dominican pineapple export

Agents from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), in coordination with the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESAC), Customs inspectors, and canine units, have seized 30 packages suspected to contain cocaine during an inspection at Punta Cana International Airport in La Altagracia province.

The packages, with a total weight of approximately 33 kilograms, were concealed inside boxes of pineapples prepared for export to Frankfurt, Germany. The detection occurred during a warehouse inspection that identified inconsistencies in the shipment documentation and contents.

Following the discovery, the Public Prosecutor's Office and DNCD initiated an investigation into the case. Authorities stated that further details will be provided as the inquiry progresses.

The interception halted an attempted illicit export through the commercial fruit trade route, and investigative efforts are ongoing to determine the origin of the shipment and identify those involved.
