The USDA's latest citrus forecast, released July 11, 2025, raises Florida's all-orange production estimate for the 2024–2025 season to 12.15 million boxes, up 1 per cent from June. This includes 4.60 million boxes of non-Valencia oranges (early, mid-season, and Navel varieties), unchanged from the previous month, and 7.55 million boxes of Valencia oranges, an increase of 150,000 boxes. The grapefruit forecast remains steady at 1.30 million boxes, comprising 1.16 million boxes of red varieties and 140,000 boxes of white. The forecast for tangerines and mandarins also remains unchanged at 400,000 boxes.
Nationally, total U.S. orange production is forecast at 62.0 million boxes, an increase from June's estimate of 60.38 million boxes. This includes 46.13 million boxes of non-Valencia oranges and 15.87 million boxes of Valencias. California leads production with 49.0 million boxes, followed by Florida at 12.15 million and Texas at 850,000. California's share includes an increase in both non-Valencia and Valencia types, with 41.0 million and 8.0 million boxes, respectively. Texas orange production declined slightly from the previous forecast.
Florida lemon production rose from 600,000 to 670,000 boxes, while grapefruit and tangerine estimates were unchanged. National grapefruit production declined from 7.90 to 7.60 million boxes due to lower output from Texas, which dropped from 2.3 to 2.0 million boxes. Tangerine and mandarin production in the U.S. increased to 28.4 million boxes, led by California's 28.0 million boxes. The USDA will release its initial forecast for the 2025–2026 citrus season on October 9, 2025.
