In April 2025, Peru exported 1,789 tons of fresh ginger for $3.07 million. This is 24% less volume and 30% less value than in the same month of 2024. The average price also fell by 7.4%, from $1.85 to $1.72 per kilogram.
The United States continued to be the main destination, with a 71% share, albeit with a downward trend. Shipments to this market totalled 1,120 tons worth $2.17 million, a 16% drop in volume and a 29% fall in value compared to the previous year. The average price decreased by 15%, going from $2.30 to $1.94 per kilogram.
Spain was the second most important market in April. That month, it imported 125 tons for $255,000, i.e., a 321% and 310% increase in volume and value, respectively, over the same month of last year. However, the average price dropped by 3%, from $2.10 to $2.04 per kilogram.
In Europe, the Netherlands showed a significant reduction in its purchases of Peruvian ginger. Exports to this country fell by 79% in volume and 76% in value, reaching only 129 tons for $242,000. However, the average price improved by 17%, increasing from $1.61 to $1.88 per kilogram.
