Agricultural traceability with blockchain and artificial intelligence

A new automated system promises to redefine the concept of traceability and monitoring in the agri-food supply chain. We are talking about Feedentity, a new solution by FEED.

Thanks to an innovative device, which can be placed directly inside the bins or tubs for harvesting products such as tomatoes or cereals, the exact location and time of harvesting can be recorded in real-time. The system also records the path followed by the products from harvesting to delivery with continuous geolocation, thus significantly increasing the accuracy of traceability."

In addition to logistical traceability, Feedentity allows the monitoring of environmental parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, and vibrations experienced during transport. "These data are crucial to guarantee product quality throughout the supply chain and to meet the needs of producers, processors, and end consumers," stresses Ferraiuolo. "Continuous and precise monitoring of environmental factors allows timely intervention in case of anomalies, preventing damage and waste. In addition, the collection of environmental data provides the system with useful information to improve agricultural and logistical practices, increasing the overall sustainability of the supply chain."

One of the key features of the system is its ability to provide precise and detailed information before arrival at the destination warehouse. In fact, Feedentity allows all incoming loads to be known in advance, with full traceability data such as producer, field of cultivation, variety, and field notebook information. This allows companies to optimize processing or packaging times, increasing efficiency and productivity. In an industry where timing and quality are paramount, the ability to accurately plan each stage of production represents a significant added value. In addition, the system enables better management of company resources, reducing operating costs and improving supply reliability.
