What are the country's main export and import products?

US fresh fruit and vegetable imports are on the rise

According to a report from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), between November 2022 and October 2023, US fresh-products exports amounted to 6.9 billion dollars, increasing by 1% over the previous year but registering a 4% decrease compared to 2018. Vegetable exports totaled 2.8 billion dollars during this period; that is, 1% less than in 2018, but 9% more than in 2022. Fresh fruit exports amounted to 4.2 billion dollars, i.e. 2% more than in the same period of the previous year, but 11% less than in 2018.

On the other hand, US fresh fruit and vegetable imports totaled 32 billion dollars between November 2022 and October 2023, i.e. 5% more than in the previous year and 43% more than in 2018. Fresh fruit imports amounted to 19.5 billion dollars, experiencing a slight 1% increase over the previous year and a 40% increase compared to 2018. Meanwhile, fresh vegetable imports amounted to 12.5 billion dollars, 12% more than in the previous year and 50% more than in 2018.

The US main exports from November 2022 to October 2023, compared to 2022 and 2018, were as follows:

Apples: 869.1 million dollars, i.e. 1% less than in 2018 and 18% less than in 2018.
Berries: 798.8 million dollars, i.e. 3% less than in 2022 and 12% more than in 2018.
Grapes: 622.6 million dollars, i.e. 4% less than in 2022 and 18% less than in 2018.
Oranges: 593.2 million dollars, 8% more than in 2022 and 16% less than in 2018.
Lettuce: 592.1 million dollars, 1% more than in the previous year and 23% more than in 2018.

The main US imports from November 2022 to October 2023, compared to 2022 and 2018, were as follows:

Berries (excluding strawberries): 4.2 billion dollars, 1% less than in 2022 but 74% more than in 2018.
Tomatoes: 3.2 billion dollars, 15% more than in 2022 and 34% more than in 2018.
Avocados: 2.88 billion dollars, 17% less than in 2022 but 20% more than in 2018.
Bananas: 2.75 billion dollars, 10% more than in 2022 and 12% more than in 2018.
Grapes: 2,300 million dollars, 7% more than in 2022 and 46% more than in 2018.
