Ecuadorian banana exporter sees 68% volume increase in first two months of 2023

Freskbana S.A., a banana exporting company based in Guayaquil, Ecuador, reported: “Exceptional 68% sales growth in the first two months of 2023. We plan to expand our operations, and we are busy with an ongoing process of implementing the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system,” states Gaetano Leone, CEO of Freskbana S.A.

In January and February of 2023, Freskbana S.A. has seen 68% sales growth compared to the same period in 2022, exporting over 140,000 boxes of bananas weekly. “This achievement is a testament to the company's commitment to quality and its customers. We are thrilled to see such remarkable growth in our sales. Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure the best quality and service to our clients worldwide. We are grateful for their trust and loyalty, and we will continue to deliver excellence," says Leone.

Freskbana S.A. will expand its operations this year to Ecuador's region of Machala, known as the “banana capital of the world”. “The company will open a warehouse and logistics center in the area, further enhancing its distribution capabilities and strengthening its position in the market. We are future-oriented and committed to expanding our business sustainably. We believe that Machala is an excellent location for us to develop our operations, and we look forward to contributing to the region's growth," said Leone.

This investment by the company comes just after the recent earthquake that hit the country as well as heavy rain and flooding that slowed production. However, they are looking forward to warmer weather that will lead to increased production and exports. Their main export markets are Northern Europe, and The Balkans. They market about 80 containers of bananas per week to 15 different markets in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Leone says Freskbana S.A. is in the process of implementing the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. “The certification is a critical step in the company's pursuit of excellence in quality management and customer satisfaction. The system will help the company streamline its processes, improve efficiency, and ensure consistent quality in its products and services. We are dedicated to providing our clients with the highest quality bananas in the market," said Leone. "The ISO 9001:2015 certification is a testament to our commitment to quality, and we are excited to implement it this year," he concluded.
