Grower-shipper highlights U.S.-grown fruit offerings at SEPC

Superfresh Growers® looks forward to seeing industry friends at the Southeastern Produce Council (SEPC) Southern Exposure this week. It will display its year-round Pacific Northwest apple and pear offerings and discuss its upcoming cherry and blueberry harvests.

Using the latest technology and growing practices, the grower-shipper delivers apples and pears year-round, with all fruit coming from the Pacific Northwest and grown in the United States. Looking ahead to the next few months, it especially has a promotable volume of organic and conventional Pink Lady and Cosmic Crisp apples, organic and conventional D’Anjou pears, and its signature apple, Autumn Glory.

“We are seeing great quality and condition in our U.S.-grown Pink Lady crop and foresee suitable supplies for spring and summer promotions,” says Mike Preacher, VP of marketing. “Also, this year we have strategically managed our entire apple crop to allow us to pack fresh and ship year-round. We are excited to provide high quality, U.S.-grown apples and pears all the way to new crop in the fall.”

It is also excited for the Pacific Northwest cherry and blueberry season coming this summer. It plans on an expanded cherry offering, expecting a 30 percent increase in production. For the 2022 season, its last shipments, from high-altitude orchards, extended beyond the Labor Day holiday into September.

The company plans on an expanded cherry offering, expecting a 30 percent increase in production.

Superfresh Growers' blueberry volume is expected to grow by 40 percent this year. “We recently increased our packing capabilities dramatically, which will elevate the freshness we are already so proud of,” says Preacher. “Southern Exposure is perfectly timed for us to meet with our industry colleagues and discuss upcoming blueberry, cherry, apple and pear harvests. The quality and breadth of retail attendance create value on both a regional and national scope. This will be key timing for us to discuss our expanding cherry and blueberry capabilities, as well as plan ahead for summer and fall apple and pears.”
