Julien Cremer, Sud ImpEx:

Start of the cherry campaign from Argentina

The cherries from Argentina have arrived at Sud ImpEx. The company specializes in the shipment of Spanish and French fruit and vegetables on the Saint-Charles market. Mostly produced in Patagonia, Sud ImpEx started with the Royal Dawn and will soon receive the Brooks.

“We start with the calibers 26/28/30/32 of early and tasty varieties.” Off-season cherries of Extra quality, known for their absence of pests and diseases and transported by plane “to meet the quality requirements of our clients. This mode of transportation allows for the fruit to be picked as close to maturity as possible,” explains Julien Cremer, director of Sud ImpEx.

Stable prices
“Prices remain high for the first shipments because of air freight.” If import products remain globally expensive due to the inflation, “consuming cherries in the winter has become an inescapable pleasure. Between October and February, France imports between 400 and 500 tons of off-season cherries.”

Sud ImPex currently offers other import products such as the Autumn Crisp Extra green grapes from Peru and the Jumbo blueberries.
