EU Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia opens new agricultural centre in Stepanavan

The EU Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia has opened a new centre for vegetable production, collection and packaging in the Lori region.

The new ‘Lorva Hatik’ centre is located in Stepanavan city, Lori region. It will promote participatory and balanced inclusive growth in the Lori, Tavush and Shirak regions of Armenia by fostering green agriculture and local added value.

The centre is equipped with an almost full range of land cultivation tools and technical equipment, as well as legume sorting, cleaning and retail packaging equipment.

In 2022, the area of land under cultivation by Lorva Hatik and collaborating farmers reached about 25 hectares and the goal is to constantly increase it year after year.

This initiative is implemented in the framework of the EU Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia (EU-GAIA), funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation. The project is jointly implemented by the Austrian Development Agency and UNDP in Armenia.
