Moespom, the Belgian potato processor from Moerzeke, attaches great importance to a customer-oriented approach and therefore offers various packaging options. This requires an efficient and flexible packing and palletizing process. Lan Handling provided a fully automated process for processing loose potatoes and potato bags.

Potato bags in crates and dollies
How it works? Stacks of folding crates are placed on the pallet entry position with a forklift and automatically pushed into the crate erector. The unfolded crates are then transported to the compact dolly/crate loader. A bag merger ensures that the infeed of the potato bags is merged: from 2 lanes to 1 lane with bags, at a capacity of a maximum of 45 per minute. Moespom has the choice to automatically place these bags in crates or in dollies. Ideal if the retailers that are supplied prefer different product carriers. A different gripper is required for loading these product carriers: this change takes place automatically.

Loose potatoes
Moespom has another extra option. Namely: filling the folding crates with loose potatoes immediately after unfolding. The filled folding crates are then transported directly to Lan Handling's palletiser. The folding crates can be placed in two pallet docks on different pallet sizes, both EURO and block pallets. In this way optimal use is made of the existing crate supply line.
