Hans Maagendans, Banafood:

"High spot prices in Ecuador, but no great pressure on banana market"

The banana market is currently quiet. "It's not bad, but I can't say it's moving either. Last week was slightly busier. The vacation period might've had an influence," says Hans Maagendans of Banafood in Germany. He expects the market to remain stable in the coming weeks.

"Supplies are expected to be very normal. Ecuador's spot market prices are high. That means there's more demand than supply. But, there aren't any major shortages. There have been quite a few delays in recent weeks. The ships, however, seem to be arriving on time again," Hans concludes.
