China and Myanmar sign trade agreement for bananas

The Myanmar Ministry of Commerce recently announced that the government of Myanmar is about to sign an export agreement with China. The agreement covers the trade in bananas and live cattle. The vice-secretary of commerce explained that the preparations for the trade agreement on bananas have already been completed and the agreement can be signed. The trade agreement on live cattle will soon be finished as well.

The overall surface area devoted to banana plantation in Myanmar is roughly 27 thousand hectares. Many Chinese traders personally invest in the banana plantations in Myanmar. These investments stimulate economic development in Myanmar, and the trade agreement further encourages a healthy growth for the Myanmar banana industry.
