Peru is the third biggest exporter of avocados in the world, only behind Mexico and the Dominican Republic. In 2018, the country's avocado exports, 95% of which were of the Hass variety, amounted to 724 million dollars. 90% of the national production of this fruit is exported in the form of fresh fruit, while nearly 9% of it is exported frozen, and only 1% is for national consumption.
