Spain: Garlic market paralyzed due to oversupply from China

The National Association of Garlic Producers and Marketers confirms that the market is still paralyzed as a result of China's oversupply. Right now, the marketing of the Spring variety is slow, while the Purple is selling a little better, as reported by the director of ANPCA, Luis Fernando Rubio. He also says that the strategy to follow now by the producers is "trying to endure." He acknowledges that the situation is "severe."

But the association's fear is that the producers may wish to sow now what they haven't sold, aggravating a situation that has already taken a toll on the sector for two campaigns. Rubio says that with the sowing campaign still in full swing, it is still too early to make predictions, but everything points to a reduction in the acreage, because China will continue producing at the same pace.
