India: Perishable cargo terminal planned at Srinagar Airport

In an attempt to boost exports of delicate fresh fruits, cut flowers and exotic vegetables from Kashmir, a proposal for the construction of a perishable cargo terminal at Srinagar Airport is at the final stage of planning.

The dedicated cargo terminal for the perishables is a joint effort of the Airport Authority of India and the J&K Government and will be in addition of a general cargo terminal, which is expected to be completed in September 2019.

Greaterkashmir.com reports how the perishable cargo terminal can provide a huge relief to farmers who produce perishable goods like cherry, plum, strawberry, grapes, flowers, exotic vegetables etc and will help in boosting such kind of exports from Kashmir, which otherwise face huge risks during the transportation by means of road transport.
