London's first ‘wonky veg box scheme’ Oddbox has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the £350,000 it needs to scale its deliveries across London. The start-up delivers fruit and veg boxes to South London residents, filled with produce that would otherwise go to waste because it doesn't meet strict aesthetic standards demanded by supermarkets. The boxes are sold for 30 percent less than other vegetable box schemes.
According to businessgreen.com, the crowdfunding campaign launched on Seedrs last week, and has already raised £250,000 towards its £350,000 target. Oddbox said it needs the cash to expand its delivery and storage capabilities, and get new growers on board, to meet surging demand for its service.
