Leading export markets for cherries from Moldova are Russia and Belarus. Previously, the country actively re-exported cherries from Turkey. So in 2015, the re-export of Turkish cherries through Moldova exceeded 1,000 tons, which is confirmed by official data of foreign trade. However, now external supplies mainly include products of own production.
The world leader in cherry exports is Hungary, whose annual supply of cherries is more than 26,000 tons. It is followed by Serbia, the United States, Italy, Syria, Croatia and Spain.
Fruitnews.ru also reports that Germany is one of the largest importers of cherries, with imports of more than 20,000 tons per year, followed by Russia, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Austria and Singapore.
