China: Disappointing prices for chives
"This year the prices of chives have been lower and they've even become unsaleable in some production areas. This is mainly due to there being less market demand and a lack of customer interest. The high temperatures encouraged an increase in production and chives are not easy to store," said Tang Wenxuan, a vegetable grower and seller from Guangdong, in an interview with FreshPlaza.

"The price of chives has been falling since the beginning of the year. By the week before the Chinese New Year, although the first batch of seasonal chives sold well, the price had dropped to just over RMB 2 yuan/kg. Right after the New Year, prices continued to decline to around RMB 1.5 yuan/kg. The market is even more bleak in early March."

"We are vegetable growers and sellers located in Guangzhou, and our main products are chives and hotbed chives. Our plantation base covers an area of about 5 hectares, and we can supply the market throughout the whole year. Currently, our vegetables are sold through traditional channels to the wholesale markets in first and second-tier cities."
