Mexico: Fruits from Colima in the agricultural food atlas

On November 8, the Agricultural Food and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP) of the (SAGARPA), presented the 2017 Agricultural Food Atlas. This is the sixth consecutive year of the publication that compiles, analyzes, and disseminates agricultural and fishing information on Mexican products that have an impact on the national and international markets.

The publication is well structured and shows the panorama of food production in Mexico. It contains valuable information on the added value of agriculture, the livestock sector, and the fishing sector that will facilitate the consultation of the evolution of Mexico's production, the statistics of the main variables in the field by federative entity, the seasonality of production, and foreign trade, where Mexico stands out worldwide. 

The dynamism of the Mexican agricultural food export sector and the level of international sales, which amounted to 28,971 million dollars (MDD) during 2016, surpassed those obtained from family remittances 26,993 (MDD), foreign tourism 19,650 (MDD), and the sale of oil 18,818 (MDD), highlights the document.

Colima appears in the 2017 Agricultural Food Atlas with 14 agricultural products and 3 from the fishing sector. The most outstanding products are: Blueberry (2nd place in national production), Palay Rice (2°), Copra (2°), Papaya (2°), Lemon (4°), Banana (4°), Raspberry (5°), Blackberry (5°), Melon (7°), Pineapple (7°), Cucumber ( 9°), Watermelon (9°), Mango (9°), and Cherry Coffee (10°). Fish products: Tuna (2°), Shrimp (7°), and Sardine (8°).
