China: Price rise for Nanning's bananas
The harvest in the Nanning banana production region is nearing its end. In combination with the increased demand in the last period, the banana price appears to be on the rise again. Ever since mid-September, the hot weather has been accelerating the ripening process and banana farmers were forced to dump their bananas on the market at low prices. The Nanning bananas collectively came on the market before the national holiday and Mid-Autumn Festival. As the demand from consumers was low, the banana market wasn't prosperous and prices remained at a low point.
Because most of the Nanning banana cultivation regions have already entered the last stages of the harvest season, the supply of bananas on the market is gradually decreasing. As the weather is also becoming cooler and consumer demand is increasing, it is clear that more and more buyers from other regions in China will flock to the Nanning banana market. The banana sales problems are slowly being resolved and the price is clearly on the rise compared to mid-September.
