High yielding almond rootstock gains popularity among AU growers

Australian almond growers are planting more than 260,000 trees cultivated on a high yielding rootstock from Spain, which has become available to them for the first time this year.

The garnem rootstock has been cultivated by the Australian arm of international plant propagation company Agromillora, which is based at Irymple.

The Almond Board of Australia has plant breeding rights over the rootstock, which was developed in Spain.
