Poland hosting 13th International Fruit and Vegetable Promotion Congress

The 13th International Fruit and Vegetable Promotion Congress will be held in Poland on 19 September 2017. The event is organised every year in a different world market in order to address the issue of the low consumption of fruits and vegetables. The purpose of the Congress is to promote the habit of consuming 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, including juices, as well as to discuss health policies, serving also as a platform for the exchange of experiences for producers and traders in the fruit and vegetable industry.

This year's edition is jointly organised by the National Association of Juice Producers (KUPS) and the International Alliance of Associations and Movements "5 a day" and will be held on 19-20 September 2017 in the InterContinental hotel, in Warsaw. It will be attended by representatives of government administrations and institutions responsible for health policies, as well as by experts from 30 countries around the world.

"The International Fruit and Vegetable Promotion Congress is held annually and has already been hosted in Europe (Hungary or Spain), as well as in Latin American and South American countries (Mexico and Colombia). The change of location guarantees the possibility of establishing relations with various countries in the world and sharing knowledge and experience in research, in the implementation of promotion programs, in information on fruit and vegetable consumption, as well as on practical commercial and logistics solutions. This is a great opportunity to develop international standards in the health sector," stated Manuel Moñino Gómez, President of the International Alliance of Associations and Movements "5 a day".

"Poles, like the rest of Europeans, don't generally consume enough fruits and vegetables. Consumption is lower than the recommended minimum of 400 gram per day per person; in 2016, it amounted to only 280 grams. Therefore we are very active in raising awareness about the benefits of a balanced diet based on vegetables and fruits. We are pleased that Polish activities in this direction have been recognised internationally and we have been invited to co-organise the thirteenth edition of the Congress. We believe that the Congress, as a platform for exchanging knowledge, experience and ideas between food, processing, trade and promotion professionals from around the world, will have a positive impact on national policies for the promotion of fruits and vegetables," stated KUPS General Secretary Barbara Groele.

The event will be attended by renowned authorities of the world of science, entrepreneurs, and representatives of public administrations, so the Congress is unquestionably an opportunity to get acquainted with the latest news from the world of science and business, providing also an opportunity to contact the representatives of different countries, and every year it has a positive impact on trade between its participants.
