Uzbekistan: Construction of fruit and veg processing plant in Andijan

A ceremony was held in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan to launch the construction of a plant for the processing and drying of fruits and vegetables, as well as for the production of juice. Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the ceremony.

Within the framework of the project, there are plans to build a greenhouse for the growing of seedlings on an area of 6 hectares, as well as a 255 hectare intensive garden with drip irrigation.

The goal is to grow vegetables on 615 hectares of land and build a refrigerating warehouse for the storage of 7 thousand tonnes of products. The cost of the project is $ 24 million and the plant will be put into operation in the third quarter of 2017.

The president, having pressed a symbolic button, gave the start to the implementation of the first stage of the project: the construction of a line for the drying of fruits and vegetables.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also got acquainted with the project of a large logistics complex for the processing, freezing and marketing of fruit and vegetable products, organised by the Uzbek-German joint venture "Navigul", based in the Khojaabad region.

The company produces and exports tomato paste, dried Bulgarian peppers, aubergines, apples, cherries and peaches.

The head of Uzbekistan also presented a project involving the drying of fruit and vegetable products and a refrigerated warehouse in the farm "Obod turmush Orzusi" in the Asaka district, as well as a program for the development of the food sector in 2017-2018, implemented by Uzbekzokovakt holding and commercial banks.

The President gave instructions for the timely implementation of these projects and the launch of new enterprises with qualified specialists.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the need to supply products not only to domestic, but also to foreign markets.
