Georgia strives to boost hazelnut production and exports

Georgia is striving to foster hazelnut production, boost its exports and make it more competitive on the international markets.

For this reason, the first meeting of the Advisory Council for the development of the hazelnut sector was held at Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture, which was headed by the Minister Levan Davitashvili.

The Minister stated that hazelnut takes one of the leading positions among Georgia’s successful export products. Hazelnut is one of the strategic export culture for Georgia and this culture needs more development and the state is ready to support this process,” he added.

Meanwhile, head of Hazelnut Processors and Exporters Association Aleksandre Motserelias said that this year Georgia is expecting a high quality hazelnut harvest.
