“Shelf life of fruit and vegetables extended due to laser perforation”

Packaging company Interni Film provides packaging film in its own production with laser perforation, extending shelf lives of fruit and vegetables. “For each type of fruit and vegetable, we calculate how many holes the packaging needs to reach the ultimate shelf life of the product. During the production process, the holes are automatically checked by means of cameras, so that we can guarantee a perfect diameter and quality of the holes,” says Stijn Verreet from Interni Film.

“Extending shelf life of fruit and vegetables ensures a decrease of the amount of waste and loss of supermarkets. Consumers will also waste less food, as their bags of sliced vegetables stay fresh longer,” Stijn explains.

“Interni Film offers various films with anti-fog characteristics for packing fruit and vegetables. Anti-fog films are available both for flow-pack (BOPP films) and top-sealing of APET punnets (I-PET film), and PP punnets (laminates). Interni Film cuts the preferred film to size and provides it with laser perforation and flexo-printing. Thanks to permanent stock of 600 to 800 tonnes of various types and thicknesses of quality film, Interni Fillm can deliver in a short time.”
