In 2015, the total export of green produce from the EU to China reached 22,768 tons, worth 36.3 million euros. The major produce exported was apples, pears and citrus fruits. For 2016, according to figures from November, the EU has exported to this big market in Asia a total 31,298 tons of produce with the worth 45.6 million euros.

All the data shows that this fast-growing market with its strategic importance has the potential to become the most promising market for Europe soon. After analyzing the market trends, the organizer of the Macfrut Fruit & Veg Professional Show chose China as its partner to host the event between 10 and 12 of May at the Rimini Expo Center. Numerous purchasers, exhibitors and professionals from the agriculture and trade industry in China will participate in the event.

The major partners of MacFrut are importers/wholesalers, retail channels and e-business platforms. The three most important wholesale markets for imported fruits are the Xinfadi Market in Beijing, the Jiangnan Market in Guangzhou and the Huizhan Market in Shanghai.

Fresh produce has nowadays become an important product for the e-business platforms in China, especially among young consumers. The two major platforms here are Alibaba and JD, both of which have recently added a separate channel for fresh food.
Therefore, the focus of the Macfrut show this year will be on the companies from the partner country of China. A total floor area of 500 square meters will be used by Chinese groups and individuals during the exhibition.

On Wednesday, 10 of May, an international forum will take place in the middle East, with the aim of looking for new business opportunities in Asia. Speakers from China, India and the United Arab Emirates will talk about the current trends and future expectations of these markets with great potential.
A few weeks ago, IFEMA Feria de Madrid and Cesena Fiera announced the VNU Asia Expo, which further proved the strategic importance of China. The first Mac Fruit Attraction China is the fruit of the cooperation between those two organizations, which will be part of a larger exhibition---the China Gardening Exhibition which will be hosted at the Shanghai International Exhibition Center from 22 to 24 of November.
