Nuts & chocolate consumption growing globally

According to a new survey, nuts and chocolate may be the perfect match. A survey done by the Almond Board of California (ABC) and Sterling-Rice Group (SRG) sampled 5,400 consumers, without nut allergies, from various countries and found that 70% of consumers prefer chocolate with nuts compared to plain chocolate.

"Average monthly chocolate with almond occasions increased or stayed the same in seven out of 10 countries (US, UK, France, Germany, Russia, Brazil, and Japan)," SRG said in the report.

When it came to dark chocolate consumption, almonds showed an increase of 3%, with pistachios showing an increase of 7% between 2014 and 2016.

"82% (up three points versus 2014) of consumers believe chocolate with almonds is more nutritious, while 81% (up two points versus 2014) of consumers worldwide believe chocolate with almonds is crunchier," SRG added.
