Russia's Dixy group sees 14% sales growth in 2016
Russian retailer Dixy Group has announced sales growth of 14% in the 12 months of 2016, totalling RUB 311.2 billion (€4.8 billion). In a statement released mid-January, the company said that like-for-like sales grew 4.4%. In 2016, the retailer opened 94 new stores, and added an additional 5% selling space year on year, totalling 952,532 square metres. Average basket spend increased by 3.5%. A farm based in a former air raid shelter beneath a London high street has begun selling its salads to a major supermarket. Growing Underground is selling five salad mixes in its first range through online supermarket Ocado in the first major retail deal for the five-year-old business.
