Ukrainian producers to reduce expenditure in seeds and agrochemicals

In the 2017/18 campaign, Ukrainian producers will save not only on seeds, but also on plant protection products, as reported by Alexander Horev, head of the project "APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits", in his speech at the thirteenth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine - 2016. Profitable solutions."

"After a rather successful season in financial terms, many producers decided to increase the acreage for almost all vegetable crops for the 2015/16 campaign, hoping to earn good money in the new season," says the expert.

A. Horev noted that producers this season returned to hybrids, purchased better seeds and, as a result, managed to achieve a production growth not only through the expansion of the acreage, but also to higher yields.
"What do we have today? Prices of almost all vegetables are much lower than at the beginning of December last year, and the end of this trend is not yet in sight," said A. Horev. "Thus, there is already every reason to believe that growers won't be able to qualitatively prepare for the new season and will be forced to save not only on seeds, but also on agro-chemicals," he concluded.
