On 10 November, two batches of Ukrainian tomatoes were destroyed in the city of Sebezh, in the Pskov region, Russia. Sources from the local Rosselkhoznadzor office reported in a press release that the total weight of the batches destroyed amounted to 34.8 tonnes.
According to the authorities, the cargo was transported to Russia from Belarus accompanied by Russian phytosanitary certificates, but examination revealed the presence in the packaging boxes of labels indicating another country of origin for the tomatoes: Ukraine.
Earlier, on 7 November, another batch of more than 17 tonnes of tomatoes grown in Ukraine was already destroyed in the same place after being transported from Lithuania under the guise of waterproofing materials.
Also previously, on 8 November, 17.3 tonnes of fresh pears from Poland were destroyed at the Municipal Solid Waste Landfill in Sebezh.
