75 pound giant Elbistan cabbages saved from disease

It is harvest time for the giant Elbistan cabbages in the country’s fourth largest plain in southern Turkey. The cabbages, which can exceed 75 pound, have suffered from a disease for the past 4 years reducing the planting area by a third. This year, growers, who are left with a 25 acres planting area, have managed to reduce crop losses to 20% by implementing disease management strategies.
