Citrus fruits, eggs, tobacco, beans, sugar and pork prices have increased the most in August in Romania, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) released this Monday by Agerpres.
Compared to June, citrus and other southern fruits have become 5.11% more expensive in August (beans are up 1.55%).
Meanwhile, the biggest price drops were recorded by fresh fruits, which have become 9.27% cheaper; potatoes, with a 3.06% drop, and tinned vegetables, down 2.95%.
Global consumer prices, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), were 0.2% lower in August 2016 compared to August 2015. According to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), the annual rate of price consumption was +0.3%, says the INS.
According to this institution, the share of goods and services in August 2016 recorded a price decrease of 40.4% compared to August 2015.
Average consumer prices over the last 12 months (September 2015 - August 2016) compared to the previous 12 months (September 2014 - August 2015), based on the CPI, are up 1.8%. Based on the HICP, the average is up 1.4%.
