Ukraine: Apple prices drop to last year's levels in Kiev

Apple prices have been dropping rapidly in Kiev, Ukraine, and now the fruit is being offered at same price as last year at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market, reports Fruit-Inform.

Apples have become 27-30% less expensive since the end of the previous week, and current prices vary between UAH 6-8/kg (EUR 0.21-0.28/kg), depending on quality and variety. Sellers are forced to reduce their prices due to the rather abundant supply of seasonal fruits and moderate demand for apples.

Meanwhile, prices at other wholesale markets of Ukraine are still higher year-on-year. Sellers at Shuvar Wholesale Market, Lviv, offer their apples at UAH 6-10/kg (EUR 0.21-0.35/kg), depending on quality and variety, against UAH 4/kg (EUR 0.16/kg) and higher a year before.

Apple prices vary between UAH 8-12/kg (EUR 0.28-0.42/kg) at Nezhdanna Wholesale Market, Kherson Oblast, against no lower than UAH 5/kg (EUR 0.20/kg) in the end of summer 2015.

Prices in Lviv and Kherson Oblast did not change compared with a week before.
