LTV presents new red pear Me Amore
"It is the first completely red pear"
In recent years, there have already been a few red pears in the top fruit market. One of the newest is Me Amore, which is marketed by Limburgse Tuinbouw Veiling (Limburg Horticultural Auction). Wilfried Jeurissen, of LTV, explains that they currently have about 4 hectares in Belgium and 6 hectares in the Netherlands. "Me Amore is actually related to the Sweet Sensation; the big difference is that Me Amore is completely red." LVT is the exclusive supplier of this red pear in the Netherlands and Belgium.

A total of 20 tonnes has been harvested this season and the Belgian harvest is already sold. In the Netherlands, there are still a few tonnes in ULO storage. At Fruit Logistica, in Berlin, Wilfried Jeurissen presented the pears of the Dutch grower Kees van de Water, from Ooltgensplaat.
Completely red
Wilfried stressed that, in recent years, much of the focus has been on the Conference. "Of course, this is a wonderful pear, but it should not become a monoculture. Consumers also want something new. Therefore, we have presented the first peer that is completely red." Demand for it is already huge. "Many are also already in line to buy Me Amore next season." Next year, the production is expected to reach 150 tonnes, and the year after that it will increase to 250 tonnes, as long as the harvesting conditions are normal.
