Spanish cucumbers with a wide price range

Cucumbers
The market is mainly dominated by the Spanish cucumbers. The quality varies and the prices fluctuate considerably. The Belgian and Dutch imports increased in certain markets, though the cucumbers were becoming increasingly smaller. The prices remained at a stable high level and sometimes could even be raised. Only in Hamburg the increased supplies led to weaker prices. In week 8 the first supplies from Papenburg are expected. The Turkish and Dutch supplies dominate the snack cucumber market. And currently the season for German produce is starting up. Belgium started the season with cucumbers in 4 kg reusable crates the cucumbers weren’t always completely ripe. Overall, the cucumbers cost nearly as much as in the previous week. Occasionally in Munich, Berlin and Cologne the prices, depending on the origin of the cucumbers, were slightly more stable.

Apples
As usual in this time of the season, the German apples dominate the market. Overall the trade was quiet with a small peak towards the weekend.

Pears
The European pears are in the centre of the trade. Due to the positive demand and supplies matching that demand the prices mostly remained at the same level.

Grapes
South African grapes dominate the trade with a large range of varieties. And the green and seedless grapes sold the best.

Kiwis
While the importance of the Italian kiwis increased, the importance of Greek batches decreased. As usual the supply matched the steady demands.

Oranges
Spanish oranges dominated the market. The demand was quiet and that demand could be met easily due to the increased supplies.

Other small citrus fruits
Overall the demand was positive but quiet, and it was noticeable that the season reaching its end. Exclusive products could be sold without difficulty.

Lemons
On the excited market the prices barely changed. And as usual the supply was balanced with demand.

Bananas
The trade was continuous, and the demand was rather slow the prices went steadily up. This was due to decreased availability.

Cauliflower
The Italian supplies have surpassed the French supplies. The supply usually was not very abundant, the availability was often limited.

Lettuce
The iceberg lettuce, exclusively from Spain, was in abundant supply. The prices remained at a low level.
Tomatoes
The Spanish vine tomatoes and regular tomatoes dominated the trade. On various occasions the prices went up but it was commercially difficult to adjust the consumer prices accordingly. So the prices often remained stable.

Bell peppers
Spanish imports clearly dominated. The prices remained at a rigid level but as a result of the increased supplies the prices dropped.

Onions
Onions exclusively came from Spain. And due to the increased availability or the decreased demand the prices of most batches went down.
