A new CBA fruit and vegetable logistics centre is being built on a 14-acre plot of land in Szeged. Its opening is planned for May next year and will come after an investment of 9 billion forint (28.9 million Euro). It will create 100 new jobs.
The Managing Director of the company explained that, at the moment, CBA's fruit and vegetable acquisitions are not carried out in a cost-effective manner. The logistics centre aims to replace outdated infrastructure and facilitate the distribution of local produce.
The goal is to imitate the European, and especially the Italian model when purchasing directly, quickly, in modern conditions, within a radius of 100-200 kilometres, thereby acting as a stimulus to local agriculture. Additional products will also be offered, such as packaging, power equipment, garden tools, seeds, fertilizers or pesticides. Furthermore, the region plans to intensify its relations with Serbia and Romania.
